TongLing Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring
comes in two tones: natural and
caramel, an amber colour achieved by heat pressing the bamboo. Because this
is not a surface stain, TongLing strand woven bamboo flooring retains its colour even
after sanding. Finished TongLing strand woven bamboo floors have a rich texture
that are extremely durable at an incredible 2820 PSI, which is
about as hard as iron wood (2890 PSI) or Brazilian cherry (2820 PSI) but TongLing strand woven bamboo is much easier to work with, and more
affordable too.
TongLing Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring
is created by
mechanically stripping 4 to 6 year old Mao bamboo stalks, then after
boiling in a water and boric acid solution to remove sugars (a termite
attractant) and to inhibit fungus and mold growth. The strips are dried and
the material is woven with Dyno, an extremely low VOC plasticizer from
Norway. Then it is crushed in a 2000-ton heat press that operates at 265F.
This strand woven board is then milled in a German, laser-guided mill that
makes very accurate cuts so each board you receive is cut just like every
other board that comes out of the shipping carton. After milling, the strand
woven boards are sanded and coated with a 6-coat build-up process with Aluminum
Oxide Finish. TongLing strand woven bamboo is
extremely durable and very easy to care for or refinish.
Tongue-and-groove strand woven bamboo flooring installs like conventional
wood floors which are milled with tongue and grooves on all four sides so no
special installation techniques are required. Our material is so advanced
that it can be nailed, glued or floated
over a thin foam mat where only the edges are glued.
